Bat Walk in Lake Charles

Host: Sasol's Nature in Focus

Location: Riverside Park, 1701 Fitzenreiter Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70601

The City of Lake Charles is flying into spooky season by teaming up with Sasol’s Nature in Focus Initiative and the Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists to host a Halloween Bat Walk at Riverside Park on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Grab your flashlight, put on your walking shoes and join us for an evening adventure through Riverside Park, where we’ll keep our eyes (and ears!) open for these fascinating nighttime flyers.

Along the way, participants will discover “fang-tastic” bat facts, including that more than 1,400 bat species exist worldwide and a single bat can eat up to 1,200 mosquitoes in just one hour, while exploring the natural beauty of the park’s trails along the scenic Calcasieu River.

This guided walk is family-friendly, fright-free, and completely free to attend. All ages are welcome. Don’t forget to dress for the weather!
